When Paul wrote his letter to the Roman Christ-followers, he did so knowing they lived at the center of the great Roman Empire. They were surrounded by reminders of the grandeur, depth, and strength of Roman architecture, literature, philosophy, and most of all, military might.

But Paul spoke of an even greater power when he said “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.”

Later, Paul called his readers to live out their belief in Christ through transformed behavior. He put it this way: Don’t be conformed to this world; but rather be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Don’t let the culture shape your thinking. Rather, fill you mind with the truth of God’s Word, and Jesus himself will align your desires with his. He’ll transform your thinking, and that will transform your life.
